Gardening Thoughts

Gardening is one of those things that I've always wanted to do but never felt I had enough time for. I had always assumed that to grow a successful garden you would need to put in a lot of time and effort to plant, water, weed. I also assumed that while harvesting was the fun part it was something you'd only get to do for a few weeks toward the end of the growing season. I was wrong.

Warrior Dash

Somewhat on a whim I decided to accept the offer some friends made me to run the Warrior Dash with them. Before this I hadn't even heard of obstacle course racing, and it had been years since I'd last run much of any distance, but it sounded like fun. It turned out that the Warrior Dash is pretty tame for an obstacle race (I had a much harder time on the running than the actual obstacles) but it was still a great time to be with friends, get a little muddy, and get some much needed exercise.

Temporary Motion Sensor Light

Exciting developments at home: Skunks!
We recently found a family of 6 skunks living in our back yard. Sadly the local pest control doesn't deal with that sort of thing (not sure what they deal with as they didn't help with squirrels or a groundhog either) which leaves it up to us to attempt to disrupt the funk of the skunks.

After reading a bit online one trick, out of many we're trying, is to shine floodlights on them during the night because they aren't fond of light. Getting some floodlights was pretty easy, but we weren't sure we wanted them in our backyard as a permanent fixture:

Out with the New in with the Old

Right after my last post the newer version of MovableType that I had running decided to stop working (can't even log into the backend anymore). It resulted in me jumping back to version 3.33 which I have used for most of my websites in the past. I'll probably still come back to make changes to the theme in the coming weeks, but at least now I can continue to write new posts.
